Age 42, passed away unexpectedly, Monday evening, April 23, 2001. She was born May 3, 1958 in Appleton, to James D. Gunderson and Nancy A. Peterson. Julia had been an Appleton resident most of her life and graduated from Appleton West High School in 1976. She graduated from Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1980 and did graduate work and was a teaching assistant at Syracuse University. Julia moved to Minneapolis where she was employed by Lutheran Brotherhood and later moved back to Appleton where she was employed by Ameritech. Survivors include her parents, James D. Gunderson and Nancy A. (Gunderson) Peterson, both of Appleton; a sister, Paula Gunderson and her special friend, Scott Tanner, Appleton; a brother, Erik Gunderson, Appleton; a brother and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Christine Gunderson and their children, Ethan, Meta, Maya and Dylan , Weyauwega; many aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service for Julia will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 3, 2001 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with Reverend Leon Knitt officiating. Burial will be in Historic Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
