Age 92, passed away at the Appleton Medical Center on Friday, April 08, 2005. George was born in Oshkosh on March 11, 1913, son of the late Edward and Margaret (Staffon) Monnier. On May 30, 1938, he married the former Virginia Morrison; she preceded him in death in 2000. For many years, George was employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper in Kaukauna, and during World War II served in the United States Navy. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers.
Survivors include a daughter: Judy (Leo) Schampers of Vandenbroek; four grandchildren: Shane, Dustin, Jason, and Julee Schampers; two brothers: Ray Monnier of Milwaukee and Roy (Pearl) Monnier of Arkansas; and a sister-in-law: Rosemary (Jim) Roberts of Arizona. George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers Elmer, Earl, and Ralph, and sisters Pearl and Dorothy.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 11, 2005 at Highland Memorial Park, 3131 North Richmond Street in Appleton, with Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogen officiating. Visitation will be held in the cemetery chapel on Monday from 1:00 PM until the hour of the graveside service.
