Judith R. “Judy” (Salentine) Hietpas, 84, of Appleton, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, September 6, 2021. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Judy was born on May 13, 1937 in Appleton, WI. She attended elementary school at St. Joseph School, graduated from Appleton High School in 1955, and beauty school in 1956. She married Robert “Bob” Hietpas on August 31, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton, WI. Judy and Bob have been long-time members of St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton, and have been active within that community for many years.
Judy and Bob were the proud parents of six children. After spending the first few years of her early adult life working as a hair stylist at Geenen’s in downtown Appleton, Judy eventually decided to devote her full attention to raising her growing family. She was a consistently dedicated, supportive, and loving mother, active in her children’s education, sports, and wide variety of activities. As her family grew and became more independent, Judy returned to her work as a hair stylist, working at Page One Hair Design in Appleton, where she made many life-long friends with co-workers and clients. She was also a long-time member of the YMCA, where she was a regular attendee at morning classes, again making many life-long friends. Judy enjoyed remaining active in her retirement traveling, visiting and vacationing with her family, and attending countless activities and ceremonies in support of her grandchildren. She was truly happiest with a house full of commotion and activity generated by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Hilary and Aria Salentine, brothers Robert and James Salentine, and sister Norine (Salentine) Sievert. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Bob; sisters: Mary (Larry) Zwiers of Appleton, and Helen (Salentine) Lison, of Appleton; and children: Chuck (Kristin) Hietpas of Woodbury, MN, Tim (Linda) Hietpas of Downers Grove, IL, Joel (Diane) Hietpas, of Greenville, Kevin (Joanne) Hietpas of Fairfield, IA, Tricia (Shawn) Brehmer of Sun Prairie, and Steve (Jodie) Hietpas of DeForest, WI. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Lauren (Evan) Fuhs, Ashley (John) Harasyn, John (Danielle) Hietpas, Christopher (Natalie) Hietpas, Andrew Hietpas, Allison Hietpas, Jon Hietpas, Suzanne (John) Taylor, Jodi Hietpas, Joseph (Brooke) Hietpas, Collin Brehmer, Kelly Brehmer, Jacob Brehmer, Heather Groff, and Stephanie (Adam) Burtch; 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
