Judith "Judy" Gavinski

April 7, 1940 — December 6, 2017

Judy Gavinski, 77, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in Norwood, Massachusetts. Judy was born to Sylvester and Ester (Petterson) Gavinski.

She was a loving person whose passion was the education and development of children. She touched the lives of many children as a teacher for over 38 years. She was born in Neenah Wisconsin on April 7, 1940 and graduated from Menasha High School in 1958. Judy graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1962 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. While in college Judy was an accomplished swimmer competing with the University Synchronized Swim Team. She mainly taught grade school and junior high school students in Wausau Wisconsin, Pueblo Colorado, Suburban New York City and Suburban Boston Massachusetts. She was also a camp counselor for many years at Robindel Girls Camp in New Hampshire.

Judy loved to travel in the summertime’s she had off from teaching. She with her good friend Jane Martell would pack up their VW Bus and travel across the United States. She also traveled to Europe and took many international cruises. Judy was also a seamstress and crafter.

Judy is survived by her brothers; Mark Gavinski, Joe Gavinski and Tom (Lynne) Gavinski, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, many friends, and her housemate of 34 years, and honorary cheesehead, Elaine Baizman.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Karen and Marion, a niece Michelle, and sister-in-law Jeanne Gavinski.

The funeral liturgy for Judy will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH, 516 DePere St., Menasha, with Fr Paul Paider officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com. A special thanks to Seasons Hospice and Tiahna Jones, her home care helper, who loved her like a sister for their loving care of Judy. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in her name.
