Judith “Judy” Babcock, age 62 of Kaukauna, WI, born June 28, 1961, passed away on December 1, 2023. She was raised by the state to be a strong, independent, and fierce woman. Judy never knew her biological family, but met her true family along the road of life. She loved working and enjoyed her long career at Valley Packaging right up until her retirement.
Judy almost always had a smile on her face that would quickly transfer to the people around her. She was always known for having a microphone at the ready whenever one of her favorite songs came on the radio. Judy’s love of the Packers knew no ends and she loved her Packer hat. She also loved going out and attending concerts, especially country music concerts, with her friends. You could often find Judy in the middle of a giant puzzle she was working on. She always wanted to be out helping her community and you would find her in Wintertime, loudly and proudly ringing a bell for the Salvation Army. Judy was a proud member of the Special Olympics and was the winner of many medals and ribbons. In her later years, she liked playing baseball during the day and watching the Wheel of Fortune during the evening. Judy was very happy to be able to travel out West to places like Yellowstone National Park with some of her favorite people in the world. More than anything, though, Judy cherished the people in her life who loved her and who she loved. She touched so many hearts without even trying.
Judy is survived by her chosen family, Jill, Jeff, and Emma Hill; and Tim and Tracy Brunn; her most beloved caretakers (who she also saw as family), Scott Johnson, Felicia Mendoza, and Alexis Robinson; and her entrusted staff over the years that are far too many to name.
Judy is reunited with several of her fellow housemates and dear friends who passed away before her.
A memorial visitation will be held for Judy from 10-11 AM on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM with Deacon Steve VandeHey officiating. Judy will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton, WI following her service. In lieu of flowers, please perform a random act of kindness in honor of Judy and what she stood for.
Judy’s chosen family would like to send a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Agape 7 for the care and compassion shown to Judy throughout the years, as well as the hospice nurses and doctors who took care of her in her time of need, and especially to her many many caretakers throughout the years. You are loved and appreciated more than you know.
