Joyce Marie Munes

Joyce Marie Munes (LaPlante) age 95 of Kaukauna, WI passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 at St. Paul Elder Services with her daughters at her side.  She was born on April 14, 1929 to Lester “Les” and Selma (Mueller) LaPlante. In February of 1953, Joyce married Mel Munes.  Together, they raised 6 children.

Joyce loved spending time at her and Mel’s cottage, fishing and enjoying nature.  She and Mel also traveled all over the country due to Mel’s job.  Joyce loved volunteering for various charities, including her kids’ schools, the hospital auxillary, and her very own “St. Peter Paul” Home.  Joyce also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino, but really she cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, who meant the world to her. 

Joyce is survived by her children, Patty (Carl Piechooki) Verhagen, Tom (Linda) Munes, Karen (Bill) Brunell, Ellen Ebben, Donna (Craig) Ehrfurth, and Diane (Shane) Lambrecht; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her in-laws, Reg (Charlene) Munes, Bob (Marilyn) Munes, Jim (Deb) Munes, Kim Munes, and Jane LaPlante; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.

Besides her husband Mel, her parents, and parents-in-law, Joyce is preceded in death by her brother, Robert LaPlante; her son-in-law, Art Ebben; her grandsons, Andy and Alan Ebben; her in-laws, Gene (Florence) Munes, Shirley (Louis) Zierler, Janet (Tim) Jury, and Mike Munes; and 7 nephews.

There will be a private family funeral in accordance with Joyce’s wishes.  Joyce will be laid to rest beside her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery in Kaukauna. 

Joyce’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff in Appletree Lane at the St. Paul Home, especially Joyce’s favorites: Tina, Michelle, Diane, and Lyndsey.
