Joyce Marie Laurin, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Oakridge Gardens. She was born on February 10, 1931 to the late Francis and Bernadette Zimmerman. Her childhood years were spent in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and then as a young woman she moved to the Fox Valley area with her sister. It was there that she met and married her loving husband, (late) Roland Laurin Sr., in 1951. Together they had five children. Joyce was a woman filled with love and devotion for her family, always making them her first priority. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was a kind, compassionate, caring, and giving person beyond measure. She found goodness in every person she met. Her greatest gift to others was teaching love and acceptance through her actions and her words.
Due to her husband Roland’s employment, the family lived in multiple locations throughout Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, and Michigan. Joyce created a welcoming and loving home no matter where their travels took them. She worked in multiple different positions throughout her life providing exemplary service and care for others. She also contributed countless hours to a variety of volunteer efforts. After more than forty years of a wonderful marriage and the untimely death of her husband, she began a new chapter in life. She shared a home with her best friend Ina for more than twenty-three years. Together they enjoyed many good times with friends and family and contributed numerous hours to helping others.
Joyce will be deeply missed by her children: Roland (Carolea) Laurin, Kathy Laurin, Robert Laurin, Mary (Eric) Davis, Anne (Gary) Kaufert; seven grandchildren: Justen, Eden, Laurin, Jackilyn, Christopher, Grant, and Elizabeth; nine great-grandchildren; lifelong friend Ina Rasmussen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
A memorial service for Joyce will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME LAEMMRICH CHAPEL, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha. There will be a time of visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
