Joyce Washburn passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Select Specialty Hospital in West Allis.

She was born in Eau Claire on December 12, 1927, daughter of the late Elmer and Katherine (Chambers) Gorton. She grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Memorial High School and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Joyce was a kindergarten teacher at Huntley Elementary School in Appleton for many years. She enjoyed family activities, traveling, the Packers and her many friends.

Joyce is survived by her son, Christopher “Kip”; sisters: Diane Herrick and Katherine Gorton; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cliff; and a brother, Dick Gorton.

The funeral liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 East Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr. Harold Berryman officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park. A memorial fund is being established.
