Joyce E. Berg

July 19, 1950 — February 2, 2025

Appleton

Joyce E. Berg (Maxam), age 74 of Appleton, WI passed away on February 2, 2025. She was born to Percy and Helen (Habeck) Maxam on July 19, 1950 in Marshfield, WI and grew up with her siblings in Freedom, WI. They all attended 1 room schools until they moved to Appleton in 1967. A year later, she graduated from Appleton West with the class of ’68 and went on to work most of her life for Presto Products as a machine operator. She had a few loves through her life, but was most proud of the love she had for her son and grandchildren.

Joyce was quite the bookworm and you could often find her curled up with a James Patterson novel. She also loved animals, especially cats and horses, but arguably none more than her beloved granddog. She always cheered on the Packers whenever they were playing and became very invested in wrestling matches too, but she almost always had game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on in the background whenever she was doing anything. More than anything, though, she loved her son, her grandchildren, and the rest of her family and cherished every moment she spent with them all.

Joyce will be deeply missed by her son, Paul DeLabio; her grandchildren, Jordyn, Willow, and Alex; her sisters, Jan Hanson, Connie (Bill) Morgando, Judy Peterson, Mary Clemments; her brother-in-law, Bob Schnabl; as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, a great-great-niece, other extended family, and dear friends.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Dan Berg, her parents, Percy and Helen; her sister, Donna Schnabl; and her brother-in-law, John Hanson.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local Humane Society or the American Heart Association.

The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton, the staff at Willow Lane Assisted Living, and Dr. Tricia Gilling.
