Joy J. (Umland) Weller

Joy J. Weller, 74, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 19, 1945, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Hugo and Lucy (Kluchesky) Umland. Joy graduated from Wittenberg High School in 1963, and moved to Appleton to work at Aid Association for Lutherans. Joy was united in marriage to Charles “Charlie” Weller on June 12, 1965, in Appleton. Joy’s heart was huge, and she was a foster parent to as many as four children at a time. She also enjoyed bowling, down hill skiing, scuba diving, baking, and traveling to many foreign countries. Joy will be remembered most for her love of family and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Joy is survived by her husband of 55 years: Charlie; two daughters: Lynn (Jim) Drechsel and Jennifer (John) Manteufel; six grandchildren; a great grandson; two step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; 3 siblings: Eunice Umland, Judy Schenider, and Roger Umland; a sisters-in-law: Rachel Umland and Bonny Pacetti; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents; Joy was further preceded in death by her four children: Suzanne Lynn, Matthew James, Baby Weller, and Mitchell Alan Weller; a step grandson: Mykle Drechsel; two brothers: Gordon (Pat) and Roland Umland; her father- and mother-in-law: Hilbert and Murna (Wickert) Weller; sisters- and brothers-in-law: Janice (Alan) Mink, Mary Umland, Brian Pacetti, and Greg Schneider.
