Joseph R. Ciske, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at his home. He was born on April 22, 1954, in Appleton, the son of Ralph and Elaine (Boushley) Ciske. Joseph was employed with the former American Can and RR Donnelly for many years. He was also a devoted crossing guard for Edison School, on the corner of College Ave. and Meade St. in Appleton. Joe was an avid Packer and NASCAR fan, and enjoyed time spent with friends at the trailer in Sturgeon Bay. He loved spending time with family at holiday get togethers. Joseph will be fondly remembered for his greyhound passion.
Joseph is survived by his wife: Barbara; siblings: Sharon (Jim) Martin and Thomas (Mary) Ciske; niece and nephews: Paul (Mariana) Martin, Valarie (Dale) Lagerman, Daniel (Paula) Koester, Mark Koester, and Sam DeWall; numerous great nieces and nephews: sister-in-law: Beth (Mark) Meldrum; and his beloved fur children: Lily, Jiminy, Simon, and Sophia.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother: Esther Ciske; sister: Barbara (Jerry) Koester; father- and mother-in-law: Leonard and Geraldine (Ciha) Withagen; brother- and sister-in-law: Richard Withagen and Bonnie Paalman.
Funeral services will be held at Noon, on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 516 De Pere St., Menasha. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Sherwood. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Greyhound Pets of America, Wisconsin Chapter.
Joseph’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Douglas and the Neuroscience Group for their care and compassion over the years.
