Joseph (Joe) John Fassbender passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at his home, with his best friend and loyal pet, Shanna at his side. Joe was born on May 28, 1956 in Appleton, Wisconsin, son of the late Elmer & Irene (Tennie) Fassbender. Joe was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Greenville. Joe graduated from Hortonville High School in 1974; following high school he had many jobs including Hortonville Toy Factory, George’s Country Bar, Jim & Ann’s Country Bar and most recently Sam’s Club for 28 years. He came across many amazing friends, especially when he was a terrific bartender at Country Bar. He had a love for golfing and enjoyed 20 annual trips to St Germain with family and friends. Prior to taking up golf, Joe was an avid snowmobiler. He was a past member and president of Hill & Valley Riders snowmobile club. Joe had great neighbors, especially Fred & Bonnie. Everyone loved Joe and Joe loved everyone.
Joe is sadly missed by his brothers and sisters and their spouses: Louise (Richard) Malouf, Joan (Jack) Kuhnke, Larry, Pat (Bruce) Learman, Gary (Gloria), Kathy (Rick) Phillips, Rick (Sherri), Jim (Angie). Joe is further survived by brother-in-law Jim Flannery, sister-in-laws Robin Fassbender & Margene Fassbender. Special God-Children: Jen Learman, Joy Dontje, Dan Flannery & Joshua Fassbender. He has many nephews and nieces: Scott (Wendy), Jeff (Julie), Tammy (Steve) Nutter, Tim (Nikki) Malouf, Jack Jr. (Anne) Kuhnke, James (Amy) Kuhnke, Jill (Tim) Harikkala, Joy (DJ) Dontje, John (Ellen) Flannery, Pat (Val) Flannery, Dan (Heidi) Flannery, Michael (Lisa), Michelle (Brian) Niemuth, Jen Learman, Lisa (Seth) Baehman, Tony (Brenda), Amy, Amanda (Bob) Gross, Joe, Nick, Sam, Joshua, Rachel (Kyle) Deuster, Katie (Tom) Dahlke. Joe is also survived by many great-nephews & great-nieces, cousins, aunts & uncle and many great friends.
Preceding him in death: Joe’s parents, Elmer & Irene (Tennie) Fassbender, brother and sister-in-law Tom (Carol) Fassbender, sister Ruth Flannery, great-nephew Kodye Fassbender and many aunts and uncles.
Per Joe’s wishes, there will be a private family service. A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, September 9th at 1 PM at the Kountry Bar.
