Joseph C. Heidemann

May 31, 1931 — August 7, 2008

Joseph C. Heidemann, age 77, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Appleton on May 31, 1931, son of the late John H. and Ella (Grode) Heidemann. He attended school through the seventh grade – the rest of Joe's knowledge came from his life experiences; and those experiences alone made him a very wise man. As a young man, he worked on the family farm, and on the 2nd of September, 1957, he married a beautiful young woman, Lois M. Young, in Bear Creek. The couple had recently celebrated fifty wonderful years together. Joe worked at the Appleton Chair Company until 1962, and then worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Outagamie County Courthouse until his retirement in 1993. Those who knew Joe will remember his love for gardening, dancing, and hunting and fishing.

Lois and Joe were blessed with seven children: Joanne (LeRoy) Meyer of Prentice, Wisconsin; Barbara (David) Christiansen of Two Rivers; Joseph (Bonnie) Heidemann of Appleton and their children Jacob and Heather; Elizabeth (John) Dickson of Milwaukee and their children Dustin and Rebecca; Roxanne (Timm) Schwister of Neenah and their sons Brock and Bryce; Brian (Penny) Heidemann of Paris, Illinois and their children Amber (Greg) Card, Katie Meagher, and Samantha Heidemann; and Julie Heidemann of Appleton; a great-grandson also joined the family this week: Brayden Card, son of Amber and Greg. Joe also leaves behind two sisters: Irene (Ralph) Boldt of Kimberly and Theresa (Ivan) Young of Shawano; a brother: David Heidemann of Shawano; three sisters-in-law: Ruby (Robert) Schneider of New London, Vicki Schultz of New London, and Ruth Baldwin of Symco; and a very special aunt: Adela Heidemann of Appleton. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, by Lois' parents Louis and Anna Young, an infant daughter Geraldine, sisters Beatrice Heidemann and Mary Heidemann, a brother Robert Heidemann, and brothers-in-law Allen Schultz and Allen Baldwin, as well as other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The funeral liturgy for Joe will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 11, 2008 at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 E. Lourdes Drive in Appleton, with Fr. Donald Zuleger officiating. Interment will be in Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM and again at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service.
