Age 74, passed away after a short illness with his brothers at his side at Parkside Care Center on Sunday, December 21, 2008. He was born in the Town of Kaukauna on February 6, 1934, the son of the late Edward J. and Veronica (O'Donnell) Fischer. He graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1953. Joe was proud to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict during 1956 and 1957. Joe belonged to the American Legion Post # 436 in Wrightstown and the V.F.W. Post #2126 in Menasha. After the service Joe worked on the family farm with his father and brother, Ed. He later worked for Kimberly Clark Paper Company in Kimberly, retiring at the age of 55. After retiring, he took up his hobby of repairing T.V.'s, radios, and other electronics. He loved his Irish Heritage and was a wonderful brother to have.
Joe is survived by his brothers: Cliff Fischer of Menasha, Eddie (Marlene) Fischer of Wrightstown; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Raymond (Janet) Fischer, George Fischer, Eugene Fischer at the age of 4, and Catherine (Robert) VerVoort; and sister-in-law, Patricia Fischer.
The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 437 Main St., Wrightstown, with Rev. Msgr. John Schuh officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Parkside Care Center for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Joe's name is being established.
