Jonnie B. (Dorn) Schumaker, 86, went to peace with her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, August 20, 2023, after a long road of health obstacles. She was born on November 2, 1936, in South Boston, MA, the daughter of Henry and Eugenia O’Bre. Jonnie married Ken Dorn, a sailor stationed in Boston, MA, and then moved to Ken’s home state of Wisconsin in 1958, where they raised 5 children. Jonnie lost the love of her life, Ken, in 1996, and married an amazing man, Dale Schumaker until his passing in 2018. She was a homemaker the majority of her life, until after the children were grown, and she went to work at Best Bakery and retired from Kohl’s Department Stores. After retiring, she enjoyed life traveling, many miles spent on the Gold Wing with her husband Ken, Jerry and Melba Dorn, and volunteering with St. Vincent De Paul and St. Joseph Food Pantry, Appleton. Jonnie was a long-time member of St. Therese Parish, Appleton, before attending St. Mary Parish, Appleton. She enjoyed trips to the casinos and playing a mean game of cribbage; especially taking pride in skunking a person.
Jonnie is survived by her children: Cheryle (Roland “Buck”) Pruno, John (Paula) Dorn, David (Cindy) Dorn, and Jodi (Tim) Beining; grandchildren: Kenny, Kristie, Kori, Tonya, Wittney, Kelly, Mitchell, Lindsie, and Christopher; 7 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husbands, Jonnie was also preceded in death by her parents; a son: Kenneth Dorn; and sisters: Eugenia, Joan, and Janet.
Funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton. The visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass. Inurnment will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery, Stephensville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to St. Joseph Food Pantry, Appleton.
Remember mom, like Dad said, "our separation is only temporary."
