John Carl Zimmerman

John Carl Zimmerman, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in Appleton, WI, with his family by his side. He was born on June 20, 1940, in Plymouth, WI, to Vernon and Ruth (Beisser) Zimmerman. John was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, known for his unwavering Christian faith and dedication to his family and community. He was the proud owner of Conkey’s Bookstore and a leader in the downtown business community. He enjoyed playing cards, racket sports, golf, and spending time at the cottage with family and friends.

 John is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, JoAnn (Wilson); their three children, Tammy (Scott) Anderson of Minneapolis, MN, Mike (Jackie) Zimmerman of Menomonee Falls, WI, Wendy (David) Jahner of Stilwell, KS; six grandchildren (Emma, Megan, Parker, Maya, Drew, Riley). He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ruth Zimmerman, and his sister Joanne (Tom) Lake. He is also survived by his sister Lois (Marshall) Lind and his brother James (Lisbeth) Zimmerman.

 A visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Appleton Alliance Church, located at 2693 Grand Chute Boulevard in Appleton. The Celebration of Life will follow at 10:00 AM at the same location. The Celebration of Life service for John will be livestreamed on this website. Please see the portal to watch the service below. A lite lunch will be served after the service.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Wounded Warrior Project in John’s memory.

 John’s kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
