John Wolter

May 1, 1953 — October 7, 2023

Kimberly

John, age 70, passed away October 7th after a long, courageous battle with Progressive Supanuclear Palsy (PSP). John was born in Kimberly, WI to Robert and Alma ‘Marie’ Wolter (nee Lepak). John married his high school sweetheart, Joyce (née Gaffney) in 1974. They were married for nearly 49 years. In addition to Joyce, John is survived by his daughter, Keri (Eric) DeBruin and son Chad Wolter (Kerry), his cherished grandchildren Mae and Louisa DeBruin, siblings Pat (Mike) Russo, Diane Schnese (Boyd), Tom Wolter (Mary), Jim (Paula) Wolter, siblings in-law Leah (Bruce) Peterson, Kelly (Dean) Goodman, Pat (Jean) Gaffney and Jerry (Jana) Gaffney, and special friends Jeff and Diann Hietpas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Jerome "Phat" and Bernadette "Bernie" Gaffney, and his brother-in-law, Mark Schnese.

John was a longtime employee of Miller Electric. First in production, and then in technical publications. John was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. For a good portion of the year, you could find him in the woods or practicing archery. While an unverified statistic, we believe that he shot the first bear with a bow in Waupaca Co. John spent many years involved in the youth turkey hunts, mentoring the next generation. He was also a cyclist who enjoyed riding different styles of bikes, and riding with his bike club across the state. John was a high school wrestler himself, and as an adult served as a referee for the WIAA.

The family would like to thank Silverstone Memory Care and Moments Hospice for the care they provided John in his final weeks.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, October 14 at Noon with a visitation 10:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to CurePSP https://www.psp.org/
