Age 50, died Monday, January 14, 2002. John was born September 16, 1951 to Noah W. and Gertrude (Wehner) Wilson in Gary, Indiana. He married Joyce Kowalewski (Dunn) on June 29, 1974 at St. Edward’s Church in Lowell, Indiana. John graduated from Hobart High School, Hobart Indiana in 1969. He was very proud of his accomplishments on the Debate Team. Shortly after graduation, he started working as a disc jockey at WLCL in Lowell where he met his wife. John went on to serve in the United States Army for 5 years. He was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant. After leaving the service he began his career in insurance. John worked for and eventually took over the ownership of Wilson-Dunn Agency in Lowell, Indiana. While working at the agency, he proudly served as a volunteer fireman on the Lowell Volunteer Fire Department. He sold the agency in 1998 to further his career with Auto-Owners Insurance. His most recent position was underwriting supervisor of the Appleton, Wisconsin branch.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his daughter, Heather; his son, William; his mother, Gertrude; two sisters, Gaylene (Frank) Koczur and Tina (Virgil) Vogt. He will also be missed by a niece, Jenny (Chris) Gleason and their daughter, Taylor; two nephews, Jason (Valerie) Spain and Dylan Vogt. John was loved by many family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Noah.

The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 18, 2002 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton. Viewing and visitation will be Thursday at the Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Friday at the Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in John’s name.
