Age 62, died on Friday, September 28, 2001, at the Outagamie County Health Center. John was born on July 7, 1939, in Wausau, to the late Clarence and Beatrice (Dexter) DeDecker. John enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and listening to music, especially Country & Western and Elvis. Survivors include his sister Gloria (Bill) Maves, Menasha; his sister, Betty Christman (fiance Paul Konrad), Oshkosh; his brothers, Daniel (Becky) DeDecker, Combined Locks; William DeDecker, Appleton; Clarence DeDecker, Charleston, South Carolina; and Stephen (Susan) De Decker, Yuma, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Marsha DeDecker. Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 South State Street, Appleton. Family and friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Outagamie County Health Center and to his long-time, loving guardian, Joan Wentzel, for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
