Jack, age 91, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2015 in Appleton WI. He was born in Milwaukee WI on August 4, 1923 to Catherine E. (nee Zoller) and Peter R. Stenz. He resided in Milwaukee until a transfer to Appleton in 1963.
Jack graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1941 and served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945 as an electrician's mate. He retired from Ameritech as District Engineering Manager in 1978 after 30 years of dedicated service. Jack will be remembered as a devoted family man who modeled strong faith and community service. He treated everyone with kindness and compassion, and always placed his family and others first.
Jack is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy (nee Vebber). He is also survived by children Anne Lang, Appleton, John, Jr. (Cynthia) Stenz, Oshkosh, Mark (Jane) Stenz, Appleton, David (LeNelle) Stenz, Grayslake IL, Thomas (Betty) Stenz, Erie CO, Philip (Sue) Stenz, Wautoma, and Michael (Stephanie) Stenz, Green Bay. He will be greatly missed by grandchildren Karianne (Adam) Schuh, Andrew (Dena Mantz) Lang, Eric (Lynn) Lang, Sarah Schaefer, Abigail (Adam Williams) Stenz, Chris (Amy) Stenz, Beth (Eric) Haney, Jennifer (Michael) Zickus, Katharine (Zachary Carlson) Stenz, Adam Stenz, Elizabeth Stenz, and 15 great grandchildren. Other survivors include brother-in-law William (Nancy) Vebber, a nephew, Paul Vebber and niece Katherine (Michael Kieth) Siebel. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald.
A memorial service for Jack will be held at 11:00 AM at All Saints Episcopal Church in Appleton WI at on Saturday, January 24, 2015, with The Rev. Patrick T. Twomey officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
