John J. Stienen, age 87, of Kimberly, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007. He was born April 13, 1919, to the late John and Harriet (Timmerman) Stienen, in Kimberly, where he was a resident all of his life. John served with the U. S. Army during WW II as a medic. He was employed by Kimberly Clark Corporation, Kimberly Plant for 43 ¬Ω years. John enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he volunteered as a custodian for 5 ¬Ω years. He was also a member of William Verhagen American Legion Post #60, Kimberly and the VFW Post #10544, Combined Locks. He is survived by five children, Joan (David) Pogrant, Waupaca; Diane Wirkus, Madison; Carl Stienen, Madison; Roger (Amy) Stienen, Kimberly; Annette (John) Dreier, Wrightstown; seven grandchildren, Laura (Scott) Nobbe, Paul (Debra) Pogrant, Vicki (Dean) Bogdon, Carolyn and Katelyn Stienen, Zachary and Chloe Dreier; 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (Verboomen) Stienen, March 13, 2000, his son, Bob Stienen, three brothers, William, Joseph and an infant brother, Joseph Stienen and three sisters, Johanna Ulrich, Nellie Wurdinger, and Gertrude Brown. The funeral liturgy for John will be held at 12:30 pm, Friday, February 2, 2007, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, Kimberly, with Father Tom Pomeroy officiating. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 pm, Thursday and on Friday at the church from 11:30 am, until the time of the mass. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service at 7:30 pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
