John Iver Collins, Age 67 years, of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away from complications of Parkinson’s disease on June 2, 2018. John was born in Ashland, Wisconsin on December 31, 1950 to William and Dorothy (Iverson) Collins. John is survived by his wife, Deborah (Hickinbotham) Collins, a brother, Gene Collins of Little Chute, and two sisters, Kathie Collins of Kimberly and Karen (Jim) Vanden Heuvel of Darboy.
John attended Fox Valley Lutheran High School, retired after over 39 years at Formost Foods. He was a long-time attendee of Calvary Chapel of Appleton, where he was united in marriage with Deborah on August 24, 2008. They enjoyed their life together in Appleton until he went into assisted living in 2016. He had many friends at Golden Basket and Angels restaurants, and at Ridgeview Highlands in Appleton.
John has a strong faith in Jesus Christ and rejoiced in his eternal security in him. “I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it someday for a crown.”
A memorial service to remember John will be held on Thursday June 14, 2018 at 12:00pm (Noon) at Calvary Chapel of Appleton, 2136 East Newberry St. Rev. Dwight Douville officiant. Family and friends may gather at Calvary Chapel from 11:00 am until time of service.
A memorial fund in John’s name will be established.
The family extends a special thank you to the staffs of Compassus Hospice of Green Bay and Alten Haus of Neenah, especially Michelle, for their loving care of John.
