Age 81, passed away on Saturday September 1, 2007 at his home. John was born on April 29, 1926 in Appleton son of the late Grover and Bertha (Knoll) Cotton. He attended Zion Lutheran Grade school and graduated from Appleton High School. John married Elaine Kuzenski on June 17, 1950. He was employed by Automotive Supply from 1947 until 1984. He was subsequently employed for 7 years at Service Motors in Dale. John was a United States Navy Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 38. He was an avid bowler, and a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton. John is survived by his wife Elaine; his children; Jack (Joyce) Cotton, Madison; James (Debra) Cotton, Racine; Lynn (Tim) Kettenhofen, Appleton; his grandchildren; Matthew (Amy); Mark (Jenny); Shane, and Megan Cotton, Sam and Jacob Kettenhofen. John is further survived by a sister; Gladys (Clement) Wolf, Appleton; a brother; Walter Cotton, Texas; and sisters-in-law, Virginia Cotton, Marion and Awanda Kuzenski, and Clara Streck. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Howard Cotton, sisters-in-law, Marjorie, and Marie Cotton; brothers-in-law, Archie and Lester Kuzenski, and Vilas Streck, and his step-father, Herman Dorin. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday September 5, 2007 at PRINCE OF PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2330 E. Calumet St., Appleton, with Pastor Gary Nokleberg and Pastor Roger McQuistion officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 4-7 P.M. at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton, and also at the church on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. A memorial is being established for Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jack Anderson, Dr. Robert Nonn, and Theda Care At Home Hospice, for all the care given to John.
