Age 94, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at Vallhaven Care Center in Neenah. John was born June 16, 1910, one of thirteen children born to Jacob and Nellie (Van Domelen) Lamers. John was a life-long Kimberly resident, and attended St. Norbert High School in DePere for a time, but returned to Kimberly to work on the family farm. For many years he operated Machine #5 at Kimberly Clark Corporation, retiring in 1972. Many will remember John’s love of gardening, singing, gathering strawberries, raspberries, Door County cherries, and hickory nuts, as well as the enjoyment he received from sharing them with others. In his retirement, he and Germaine enjoyed traveling to see their children.
Survivors include his wife of seventy-one years: Germaine Lamers; six children: Reg (Shirley) Lamers of Long Grove, Illinois; Jerry (June) Lamers of Sun Prairie; Jack (Judy) Lamers of Centerville, Ohio; Don (Sue) Lamers of St. Louis, Missouri; Karen Hughes of Brookfield; and Bill (Leslie) Lamers of Clarkston, Michigan; thirty grandchildren, fifty-one great grandchildren; a brother: Art (Leone) Lamers of Kaukauna; a sister Agnes Coenen of Kaukauna. He will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help others. His steadfast faith in the Lord was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was loved deeply by those lucky enough to be touched by his life.
