Age 76, died at home on Saturday, July 5, 2008 with his family by his side. John was born on February 23, 1932 in Appleton son of the late Edward and Jule (Lenske) Skotzke. He married Doris Nooyen on May 2, 1953 in Appleton. John was the founder and owner of John Skotzke Concrete Construction Inc., which he established in 1956. John was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and spending time with his family and his brother, Paul. John is survived by his wife Doris of 55years; his children, Chris Skotzke (Mike Klingert), Neenah; Steve (Laurie) Neenah; Mike (Jodi), Neenah; John Jr., Fremont; Lea (fiancé Frank), Neenah; Maria (David Schmidt), Greenville; grandchildren, Matt, Carly, Colton, Lea, Katie, Mitchell, Kiara, Sam, Chrissy, K-D, Lea, Casey, Tiffany, and Wynter. John is also survived by his brother, Paul (Irene), Appleton, his sister, Virginia (Jim) Hartzeim, Hampton, VA.; numerous other relatives and friends.
The funeral mass will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 212 S. State St., Appleton, with Fr. Michael O'Rourke officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
