John D. Gregory

John Gregory, age 73 of Appleton, passed away at Theda Care – Appleton. He was born in Appleton on February 4, 1951, son of the late Harvey and Eleanor (Daniels) Gregory. He was a 1972 graduate of the Shiocton High School, and later worked at the Hortonville Toy Factory and the Larsen Canning Company. Later he was employed as a custodian by J.C. Penney.

John played softball in his younger years, and coached youth leagues in the Appleton Recreation Department. He was also known to be the maker of hotdogs, pizza, ad popcorn at John Fischer Manor, where he lived.

John is survived one brother and three sisters: Betty Paasch, Beverly (Charlie) Mundt, Harvey (Diane) Gregory, and Mary (Michael) Collar. His nieces and nephews include Beth (Rand) Whillock, Brenda (Jamie) Kelley, Tom (Stacy) Gregory, Jacky Boettcher, Jennifer (Jack) Larsen, Adam (Amanda) Collar, and Steve (special friend Ashley) Collar; a sister-in-law: Mary Ann Gregory.

There are also many great-nieces and nephews, in-laws, and other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and George (Dianna) Gregory, a brother-in-law Jack Paasch, and a nephew Jamie Gregory.

The Christian Funeral Service for John will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Hope Lutheran Brethren Church, located at 415 E. Hoover Appleton in Appleton, with Rev. James Rademaker officiating. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will take place at directly at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. 

A memorial fund is being established in John’s memory.
