John C. Zweig, Appleton, formerly of Belleville, Illinois, 92, died Monday morning, October 11, 2004, with family at his side. He was born August 7, 1912, to the late John C. and Vinita (Vaughn) Zweig, in Salem, Missouri. John served with the U. S. Navy during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He had been employed by the United States Postal Service for over 40 years, retiring in 1977, as Postmaster of National Stockyards, Illinois. John was a longtime member of Hillcrest Christian Church, and now Crossroads Christian Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John E. and Margaret Zweig, Appleton; Gregory C. and Rebecca Zweig, Germantown, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, James Zweig, Robert Zweig and Christina Zweig, all of Appleton; Jacob (Amy) Zweig, Germantown, TN; Kathryn (Matthew) Zweig Weisbrod, Centennial, CO; Emily Zweig and her fiancé, Mark Carter, Germantown, TN; Samuel Zweig, Germantown, TN; a great granddaughter, Audrey Elizabeth Zweig; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Zweig, Belleville, IL; Kay Zweig, Rolla, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Huff) Zweig, three brothers, William F. Zweig, Wayman Zweig, Clifford Zweig, and an infant sister, Mildred Marie Zweig. A memorial service for John will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 16, 2004, at the CROSSROADS CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 2415 North 89th Street, Caseyville, IL 62232, with Reverend Douglas Cripe officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Crossroads Christian Church.
