John Carroll Barry, 86, Appleton passed away on September 10, 2014. John was born January 10, 1928 in Waupaca to the late Arthur and Etta (Shumway) Barry. He was a graduate of Waupaca High School and the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. On July 2, 1955 he married his wife Doris at Mt. Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church. He served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948 and from 1950 to 1952. He also served as a member of the National Guard. John was a very hard worker and did many things throughout his career. He was employed with Crosley Manufacturing, for 12 years he owned and operated Barry's Electronic Service in Waupaca, he was employed with Bell-Howell and was an electronics instructor at the Tech Center. He retired in 1990. He was a member of Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church and sang in the church's choir. He also sang in the Fox Valley Lutheran Chorale. He enjoyed boating, learning new languages and singing.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Doris, son: Steven (Charlene) Barry of Neenah, 4 grandchildren: Lisa (Jarret) Ellis, Shannon (Ian) Shettleton, Tiffany (Stefen) King, Chelsea (fiancé Kanen) Barry, 1 great granddaughter Abigail Ellis as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jane (Wilmer) Sanders and great grandson Malik Junaid.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday September 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, 930 East Florida Avenue in Appleton with Rev Jasper Sellnow officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. Burial at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton.
