John D. Carlberg, 57, unexpectedly passed away on January 10, 2023. He grew up in Roseville, Illinois, son of Jim and Linda Carlberg. He graduated from Monmouth College, where he was an All-American football player for the Fighting Scots. He married his high school sweetheart, Lisa Davis, on May 3rd, 1987. John began working with his father at the family printing business before having a dynamic career, leading to his most recent position as CEO of Dixon Ticonderoga.
John loved to travel the world with his best friend and love of his life, Lisa. Becoming a grandfather brought him the greatest joy in the world, as family was truly everything to him.
Besides being a giant of a man both physically and mentally, he had a heart of gold. He led by example and didn’t apologize for his views. He was always fair, and people gravitated towards his charisma. Albeit reserved, he was always the life of the party: entertaining, telling stories and sharing how proud he was of his children.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Carlberg; children, Joshua (Kelsee) Carlberg and Jillian (Jim) Glasgow; grandchildren, Iris and James; mother, Linda; siblings, Jim, Gena, Jill, Joe, and Jenny; and friends and family.
Per John’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Kids in Need Foundation.
