John D Burleson

John David Burleson “Belushi”, age 73 of Kaukauna, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday October 9th, 2024.

John was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma on April 18, 1951. He was the son of the late Jay Dee and Savannah (Settle) Burleson. In 1969 he graduated from Madera High School in California. Not long after graduation, he met the love of his life Penny (Miller) Burleson. They got married at just 16 and 19 years old on October 17th, 1970.

John worked as a carpenter from the age of 20 and stuck with it until he retired from H.J. Martin when he was 67.

John had such a passion for the outdoors. When he could, he would take the boat out and could fish all day. His love for fishing came from growing up fishing at like Pine Flat and Lake Kaweah. He loved going to bass tournaments with his best friend Wendell Abel and fishing at Lake Lac Courte Oreilles here in Wisconsin. He also loved hunting. He used to travel all over the U.S., mainly Colorado, then hunting in Powers, Michigan during Deer Camp. John also loved to camp. He liked to “rough-neck” it. Just with tents and the woods around you. He also had a love for the Brewers and Green Bay Packers.

But what John loved more than anything was his family. His family was his pride and joy. He would always show support in anything his grandkids did from not missing a single sports game when his grandson would play football and baseball to going to shooting competitions with his granddaughters. But mostly just being around people he loved is where he got the most joy, along with his best pal Doc.

John is survived by his wife Penny, his children; John Jr (Mike) Burleson-Raney of Yreka, California, Tina (Jeff) Jezeski of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, and Dwayne (Jeri Abel) Burleson of Seymour, Wisconsin: grandchildren Mckenna (Elijah) Burleson-Hutchinson, Tyler Jezeski, Savannah Burleson, and sister Barbara McCool of Visalia, California.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Sarah Fowler and Linda Mason, and parent in-laws JR and Mildred.

A gathering will be taking place at Fargo Funeral Home 400 W Wisconsin Ave, Kaukauna, WI 54130 on Tuesday October 15, 2024, from 11am – 2pm.

John was an amazing hard-working husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was loved by everyone who met him. He made everyone around him smile and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for the people he loved.
