Age 95, passed away in Appleton on Friday, August 15, 2003. He was born in Chicago on July 7, 1908, son of the late Peter and Catherine (Haaksma) Brink, Sr. On May 2, 1929, he married Gertrude Gordon in Indiana. She preceded him in death in 1992. John worked for 50 years at New York Central Rail Road in Chicago, IL. He also played semi-professional football. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and playing bingo at Onieda Bingo Hall. He was a loving father and grandfather. John will be fondly remembered.
John is survived by three children: Joan Aniol of Appleton, Geraldine (John) Staszak of Neoga, IL, and John E. (Sandy) Brink of Appleton; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his wife Gertrude, parents, and a daughter, Loretta Shinko-Turek.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at JANSEN FARGO FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, August 16, 2003. A graveside service will follow at Appleton Highland Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m.
