Age 58, passed away following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease on January 19, 2001, at Outagamie County Health Center. He was born on April 17, 1942, in Appleton, the son of the late Ewald and Catherine (Schumacher) Selle. John served in the U.S. Air Force and received his honorable discharge in 1967. He was employed by U.S. Oil Company as a sheet metal fabricator. He is survived by his daughter, Tina Selle of Appleton; sons, Timothy (Melissa) of Appleton; Andrew (Charity) of Appleton; Todd of Kimberly; Jeffrey of Appleton; five grandchildren, Amanda, Julie, Ryan, Jay and Payton; brothers, Jerald of Appleton; Jeffrey (Lynn) of Appleton; Jack of Colorado; a foster brother, Paul Hinzman of Appleton; sisters, Janet (Frank) Jablonski of New York; Julie (Gary) Schaefer of Appleton; four foster sisters, Laura (Tom) Proctor of Milwaukee; Patti Revior of Echo, WI; Pam and Sue Peterson. John was preceded in death by his wife, Karen (Lemke) Selle; foster parents, Clarence and Evelyn Hinzman and an infant brother, James. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m on Tuesday, January 23, 2001, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dennis Belter officiating. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund is being established. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Outagamie County Health Center.
