Johanna Maria "Joanne" Wians

Johanna Maria Wians, of Silver Cliff, Wisconsin, “Joanne”, 74, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2021, at her Daughter’s home in the Town of Dale.  She was surrounded by her beloved Husband, Son, Daughter and other Family.

She was born on May 7th, 1947 in England, Daughter of Louis Van Den Abeelen and Nellie (Holroyd) Van Den Abeelen.  Joanne was born in England and moved to Holland in 1948.  In 1959, along with her Mother, Father and sisters Bernie and Ella they set sail to America.  Joanne worked at the Outagamie County Health Center (Brewster Village) for 25 years from which she retired.  Joanne married the love of her life, Robert Wians on August 4th, 1984.  She resided in Appleton and then the Town of Center until her retirement at which time she made her final home “Up North” (Silver Cliff).  Joanne was a member of the Red Hat Society – Silver Cliff and cherished her time spent with all members.  In addition, she was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Club – Silver Cliff Fire and Rescue.  Joanne was preceded in death by her Mother and Father as well as her in-laws Mildred and Reverend Harry Wians.  In addition, she was preceded in death by her Brother in law Arlen Wians and Sister in Law Lee Rupel.

Joanne is survived by her husband Robert Wians of Silver Cliff, Wisconsin, children Richard Phillips, Jr. (Lori), Appleton, WI; Julie Zwiers (Jeff) Town of Dale, WI; Wendy Ruedinger (Jeff), Larsen, WI; Scott Wians (Lisa), Appleton, WI; Jody Wians (Joel), Appleton, WI siblings: Bernie Lehndorf (Chris), Appleton, WI; Ella Peterman (Bob), Menasha, WI; Barb Marohl, Bonduel, WI; Ron (Cindy) Wians, Bonduel, WI 12 grandchildren: 13 great grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends.

Joanne loved spending time with her Family.  During her spare time she enjoyed gardening, campfires, fishing, Holidays, making greeting cards, time on the beach and traveling.  Bob and Joanne’s happy place was always Maui.

Funeral Services for Joanne will be held at Wichmann Funeral Homes, Tri County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street in Menasha on Sunday December 12, 2021 at 12:00pm. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 11:00am and continuing until the time of the service. The Celebration of Life will continue at her daughter Julie’s home at W9282 Hunters Road in Hortonville, beginning at 2:00pm.

Burial will take place at Silver Cliff Cemetery on Highway C in Silver Cliff, Wisconsin on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 12:00pm. Interment will be followed by a Gathering in Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00pm at the Silver Cliff Town Hall in Silver Cliff. All are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up for Silver Cliff Fire and Rescue.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff and nurses with Unity Hospice for the care and kindness given to Joanne. A special thank you to Lorna Maedke, Anna Hayes, and Laura Sage.
