Joe F. Ilg, III, age 68, of Appleton, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 1, 2010. Joe was born on December 12, 1941, in Chicago, to the late Joe F. Ilg, Jr. and Esther Wendt. Joe graduated from Carroll College in 1964. He moved to the Valley in 2007 upon his retirement as an industrial engineer. Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. Survivors include his wife, Emily; his children, Sara (Steve) Eliasen, Oshkosh; Anne (Elias) Macias, Menasha; and Karl (Kamala) Ilg, Ann Arbor, Michigan; his grandchildren, Grace, Owen and Isabella Eliasen and Vivienne Rose Ilg; his brother, David (Claudia) Debus, Alexandria, Virginia; and his sister, Judith (Charles) Peterson, Mercer Island, Washington. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Debus. Memorial services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME-TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 3212 S. Oneida Street, Menasha, with Sister Judy Miller, CJS, Spiritual Director of the Norbertine Center for Spirituality, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to benefit his grandchildren's scholarship funds. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Joe's friends and neighbors at Historic Fox River Mills Apartments for their loving friendship.
