Age 77, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 3, 2007. She was born on October 1, 1930 in Appleton to the late William and Viola (Morack) Nowell. Joie was a 1948 graduated of Appleton High School. In 1959 she married Thomas L. Thompson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, and they shared 39 wonderful years until he preceded her in death on July 10, 1998. Joie worked for many years as a personal shopper at Prange’s. Joie and Tom were long-time members of the Elks Club. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, going to the casino, watching soap operas and talk shows, and spending time with dear friends.

She will be sadly missed by her best friends: Lynn (Bob) Gartzke, and Joanie Wanta; as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Tom.

Funeral services for Joie will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Wichmann Funeral Home (537 North Superior Street) with Pastor James Seim officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joie’s name can be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Outagamie County Humane Association.
