Joanne M. Vanden Boomen, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 6, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Joanne was born on July 2, 1932 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Leslie and Minnie (Belschner) Williquette. On October 2, 1948, she married Arnold C. Vanden Boomen, and the couple was blessed with three sons. They celebrated their fifty-seventh wedding anniversary in 2005. Joanne enjoyed counted cross stitching, the Amish culture, quilting, and gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Riley.
In addition to her husband, Arnold, Joanne is survived by three sons: Michael (Charlene) Vanden Boomen of Appleton; Richard (Charlie) Vanden Boomen of Mosinee; and David (Lora) Vanden Boomen of Appleton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Ceil Bordleau and LaVerne (Bill) Suess. Joanne was preceded in death by her grandson Andy, her parents, a sister Bernice (Jim) Baenen and a brother-in-law Donald Bordleau.
The funeral liturgy for Joanne will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton with Fr. Larry Abler, OFM Cap. officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home chapel at 3212 S. Oneida Street in Menasha from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home at 5:00 PM on Friday and conclude following a prayer service at 7:30 PM. There will be no visitation at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to St. Elizabeth Hospital for their caring staff, and would also like to say “thank you” to Fr. Abler.
