Joanne Lucille Flenz, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024, in New London, Wisconsin. She was born on June 26, 1934, in Neenah, to her loving parents Irvin and Lucille (Oettinger) Hablewitz.
Joanne attended Menasha High School. One of Joannie's proudest accomplishments was her marriage to Emil Fredrick Flenz in 1958. They built a strong and loving partnership that lasted a lifetime. Family meant the world to Joanne and she cherished every moment spent with her children. Joanne also worked at Club Tavern and spent many years with Secura Insurance.
Joanne had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought her great joy. She enjoyed reading, Friday Night Fish Fry with loved ones, knitting beautiful afghan blankets and mittens for her children and grandchildren, and traveling to scenic destinations such as Hawaii and Las Vegas. A woman of deep faith and spirituality, Joanne found solace in her connection with God. Her devotion to her beliefs guided her throughout her life, giving her strength and comfort in times of need.
Joanne is survived by her children Christopher (Sandy) Flenz, Thomas (Kari) Flenz, Kari Kersten, Theresa (James) Gennigen, grandchildren Kelly Flenz, Ryan (Rebecca) Flenz, Chad (Colleen) Flenz, Kira (Zachery) Zelinski, Becky Kersten, Jesse (Heidi) Gennigen, and Kayla (Justin) Gunderson, and great grandchildren Kade, Sloane, Shay and Adam, brother Fr. James Hablewitz, and sister-in-law Sandi Hablewitz. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother John “Jack” and sisters Janice and Judi Hablewitz, and Uncle Harold Oettinger.
A visitation will be held on January 31, 2024, at Saint Patrick Parish, 320 Nicolet Boulevard in Menasha, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with a Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery, Olde Midway Road in Menasha.
The family would like to thank the staff of Monarch Meadows, especially Emily and Vicky for their time and care.
