Joanne Mary Cox (Wimberger), Age 78, of Appleton, passed on to her eternal life August 11th, 2022. Joanne was born in Kaukauna on October 10th, 1943, to the late Joseph and Marcella (Bouche) Wimberger. Joanne grew up in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. She attended St Mary's Catholic School, and graduated from Kaukauna High School. As a teenager she moved to Hollywood to become an actress and met many famous people.
Joanne worked as a CNA at Vallhaven Care Center, in Neenah for many years. Joanne had a beautiful smile and was always up for a rock concert or Broadway show, and attended many over the years. She spent as much time as she could with her family and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren dearly.
She retired up north, to Townsend, Wisconsin, with her husband John. They lived in a beautiful house on the lake, and enjoyed many hours of boating, swimming at Bass Lake, campfires, and time with family and friends.
Joanne loved animals and they were drawn to her. She had many faithful, loving pets over the years. Most recently, her two beloved cats, Mickey and Charli.
Joanne is survived by her daughter Tammy (Steve) Walsh, her son Tyrone Humphreys, grandsons Sam and Noah Walsh, brother Richard Wimberger, sister-in-law, Wendy Wimberger. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. She will be forever remembered, loved and missed.
Joanne is preceded in death by husband John Cox, son Jeff Cox, mother Marcella Wimberger Bork, father Joseph Wimberger, sister-in-law Sue (Keith) Cory, brother-in-law Bob (Penny) Cox.
Funeral services for Joanne will be on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 6:00 PM at the Wichmann Funeral Homes, Tri County Chapel in Menasha with Rev. Mike Huff officiating. There will be a gathering in celebration of Joanne’s life from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home on Wednesday before the service with food to be served during that time. Joanne will be laid to rest at St. Mary Cemetery in Kaukauna.
The family would like to thank the staff at Dimensions Living, Tina, Amy, Karen, Faedra, Nohemi, and all the other staff, for the love and care they showed. The family would also like to thank Moments Hospice for their care during Joanne's final days.
