JoAnn M. Kennedy

June 17, 1943 — January 30, 2021

Appleton – JoAnn M. Kennedy, 77, passed away peacefully, with her sister at her side at Brewster Village, on Saturday, January 30, 2021, after a lengthy illness. She was born on June 17, 1943, in New Orleans, LA, the daughter of William and Viola (Bruscher) Kennedy. The family moved to Brillion, for a short time, before settling in Appleton, where JoAnn spent the rest of her life. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, and St. Mary’s, Menasha, until her long illness began. She later was able to graduate from Appleton West in 1965 for which she and her family were very proud!

JoAnn is survived by her sister, Linda L. Kennedy, and cousins, Delores Flynn, Minneapolis, Joyce Puetz, Ken Bruscher, Judy Bruscher, Lana Cornelius, Jack Graser, and Mary Ellen D., all in Iowa. She is also survived by her dear, lifelong friend, Donna H., Hartford, whose cards, letters, and loyalty to JoAnn over all the years of her illness were greatly appreciated.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Wisconsin and Iowa.

JoAnn enjoyed her visits with her sister Linda at Brewster Village, especially doing crossword puzzles together, and studying geography in her atlases. She also loved old rock n’ roll music, especially Ricky Nelson “a real heart throb,” and singing along to old songs.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 pm, on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution are appreciated to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Appleton.

Many thank s to all the doctors, nurses, CNA’s, rec staff, etc. at Outagamie Co. Health Center, and later Brewster Village, for their compassionate care given to JoAnn over all these years, especially during this past year, when Linda couldn’t visit, and you became her “family,” your caring and kindness will always be remembered. A special thank you also to JoAnn’s “Depot family,” for their friendship. Additionally, to Diane and Pam, from Linda: your presence and compassion during JoAnn’s final hours were such a comfort to me, thank you so very much.

Rest in peace with the angels, dear sister, love you always. “Linda Lee”
