JoAnn B. Franzke

Age 68, was called to her eternal home on Thursday, September 23, 2004 at the Cherry Meadows Hospice, following a courageous battle with cancer. JoAnn was born in Appleton on December 13, 1935, daughter of the late Herbert and Nathlie (Hersekorn) Schabow. As a child, she attended St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran School in Appleton and was also a graduate of the Appleton High School. JoAnn was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, and was united in marriage to George Franzke on August 11, 1956 at St. Matthew. JoAnn was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who committed her life to raising and caring for her family. She also enjoyed regular visits to the Crivitz area on vacation.

JoAnn is survived by her husband: George Franzke of Appleton; three children: Greg (Sue) Franzke of Appleton; Rick (Pam) Franzke of Appleton; and Lori (Pat) Wagner of Black Creek; six grandchildren: Nick, Nathan, Tina, Cuyler, and Brittany Franzke, and Kim Wagner; four sisters: Evelyn Meitner of Appleton; Helen (Gene) Brahm of Darboy; Jean (Orlo) Sasman of Appleton; Marion Merkl of Appleton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Rev. Alvin, Norman, Gordon, Armin, and Edwin Schabow; and by several brothers-in-law.

Funeral services for JoAnn will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 27, 2004 at ST. MATTHEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 129 S. Mason Street with Rev. Paul Schuler and Rev. Jeffrey Verbeke officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 – 8 PM and again Monday at the church from 10 AM until the hour of the service. A memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to extend their thanks to ThedaCare at Home, especially Joyce, Judy, Nancy, and to the staff at Cherry Meadows, especially Chris and Jim. We would also like to thank our many friends and family members who supported us. Thank you all so very much.
