Jewel G. Olson, age 91, died Tuesday morning October 3, 2006, at Grand Horizons. She was born June 4, 1915, in Minneapolis, MN, to the late Aaron and Ida (Engstrom) Soderborg and graduated from Marinette High School in 1933. She married Martin Olson in 1935; he preceded her in death in 1974. Before retirement, Jewel was employed as a secretary for the principal of Marinette High School for several years. She moved to Appleton in 1995. Jewel was a member of the Christian Science Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Edward Ochs, Appleton; a son-in-law, Edward Mouw, Rhinelander, WI; five grandchildren, Jay (Helen) Ochs, Cave Creek, AZ; Paul (Jana) Ochs, Gilbert, AZ; Kara Emenecker, Neenah, WI; Peter (Christine) Mouw, Rhinelander, WI; Elizabeth (Dave) Bass, Dayton, OH; and two step grand daughters, Tamara Bukowski, Greenville, WI; Rebecca Mouw, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Olson Mouw in 1970.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for the Salvation Army.
