Age 90, of Menasha, went to her eternal home on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Dale, Wis., the daughter of Edwin and Emma Sawall. Jessie was employed throughout her life as a nurses aid at the Appleton Memorial Hospital.
Jessie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and fishing, especially for white bass. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Cross, of Menasha; two sons, Dallas (Judy) Cross, of Neenah, and Udell (Debbie) Cross, of Oshkosh; and nine grandchildren and their families, Tracy (Scott) Pamenter, of Hortonville; Troy (Kelly) Cross, and their children, Skye and Bryce, of Appleton; Jill Cross (her special friend, Ryan)and her children, Tyler and Tanner, of Greenville; Brenda (Dan) Foth, and their daughter, Maizie, of Appleton; Brian Cross, of Neenah; Missy Delabrou and her children, Brett and Elizabeth; Tanya (Victor) Duket, and her children, Jesse and Cole; Tina Cross, and her children Austin and Kaitlyn, and Travis Cross, all of Oshkosh. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents and numerous brothers and sisters.

Memorial services for Jessie will be at 11:30 A.M. Monday, January 3, 2005, at Highland Memorial Park Chapel, 3131 North Richmond Street, Appleton. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services at the chapel. A memorial fund in Jessie’s name is being established.

A gentle wind blew cross the land
Reaching out to take a hand
For on the winds the angels came
Calling out a Mom and Grandma’s name.

Left behind, the children’s tears
Loving memories of the years
Of joy and love, a life well spent
And now to God a Mom and Grandma sent.

On angel’s wings, a heavenly flight
The journey home, towards the light
To those who weep, a life is gone
But in God’s love, ‘tis but the dawn.
