Little Chute
Age 30, died with her unborn baby boy, Hunter, in Little Chute on March 11, 2002. Jessica was born to Thomas La Rue and Mary (La Rue) Land in Appleton on April 6, 1971. On February 7, 1997 Jessica married Joseph Mayefski in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Jessica had an appreciation of the outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, spending time at the cottage at Lake Winneconne, and especially shooting. As an outstanding shooter who belonged to the Amateur Trap Association, Jessica earned many honors including: “Top Women’s Award” during the Women’s Division Trap Shoot in Denmark, 1999; “Top Lady Shooter” at the Twin City Rod and Gun Club, 2000; and earned top women’s honors at the Reedfield Gun Club in 1998. She won many plaques and trophies during her shooting competitions. Jessica was very warm and caring. She especially loved her son Tommy and her dog “Maggie.”
Jessica is survived by her husband, Joseph Mayefski and son Tommy of Little Chute; parents, Thomas (Barb) La Rue and Mary (Eugene) Land; brother, Clint La Rue of Waupaca; two sisters: Heather La Rue and her fiance David Meyerhofer of Kaukauna, and Jodi Land of Kaukauna; two grandparents: Blanche La Rue of Larsen and Meryl Teal of Weyauwega; step-grandparent, Nona Barenthin of Galesville; two stepsisters: Debbie and Kelly Land; father-in-law, Reinhold “Butch” Mayefski of Menasha; two sisters-in-law: Sherry (Al) Jahner of Winneconne and Shirley Kieckhafer and her special friend Steven Huss, both of New London; and a brother-in-law, Michael (Brenda) Mayefski of Larsen. Jessica is further survived by her very special friend, Yvonne Moore, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and god-parents.
Jessica is preceded in death by two grandfathers: Edward Teal and George La Rue; step-grandparents Gladys and Victor Land, and Howard “HB” Barenthin; and a mother-in-law, Arlene Mayefski.
Funeral services will be at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 510 Sullivan Avenue, Kaukauna, at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2002, with Pastor Nelson Craig officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 13, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Union Cemetery.
“Jess, you were my world, you are still my world. I love you with all of my heart. You gave me a world to call my own. You chose me to be with you, with that I will always be yours. You were my life, and always will be. Love you always, Joe.”
A memorial fund will be established for Tommy. “Mommy, I will always love you,” Tommy.
