Loving husband, father, grandfather and sports lover, age 83, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Jerome was born in West Bend on April 1, 1919, son of the late George and Josephine (Heilmann) Schickert. On November 9, 1940, Jerome married Jeanette Riesch, and they enjoyed over 34 years of marriage together, until she preceded him in death in 1975. Jerome loyally served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from the military, Jerome opened “Jerry and Jeanette’s Bar” in West Bend, which they owned for many years. Jerome loved all sports, especially golf, baseball, bowling and football. He also enjoyed cribbage, puzzles, telling jokes and trivia. Jerome is survived by his son, Jerome L. Schickert; his daughter-in-law, Rosetta Rick; his brother, George; two granddaughters, Dawn Taylor, Colby, WI; Debra (Dane) Wisnosky, Minocqua, WI; his great-granddaughter, Courtney Wisnosky; and two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Schickert and Mrs. Clarence Schickert. He is further survived by nieces and nephews and many close friends. Jerome was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Raymond Schickert; and a sister, Armella Frey. The Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2002 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME. The inurnment will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, WI. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established. Jerome was a brilliant, caring man with a great sense of humor, and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
