Jeffrey Thomas Koss, age 50, beloved son of Lynn Koss and Laurel Mills, passed away at home on July 20, 2020, of a life-long heart condition. Jeff was born on March 22, 1970, in Appleton, where he lived his whole life. He was a graduate of Appleton West, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and Fox Valley Technical College. He worked as a Purchasing Agent for Faith Technologies, a job he loved. Formerly, he was owner and president of TK Electric. Jeff was an intelligent, witty, compassionate man. He was a Trivia buff, a Star Wars enthusiast, and a great admirer of the band U2. He recently traveled to Ireland to see U2 perform live in concert.
Jeff is survived by his moms Lynn and Laurel, and by his blended family: his sister, Beth Mills, Neenah, WI; his sister, Marissa (Rick) Neil, Grapevine, TX; two nieces he loved dearly, Lindsay and Rachel Neil; and his brother, Joshua (Megan) Dedering, Shelby Township, MI. He is further survived by his stepmom, Ruthann Koss, Appleton, WI, and loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas L. Koss.
Since Jeff struggled with a heart condition, he often reflected on and wrote about his life and death. In Jeff’s own words: My death is the end of my journey. We have no control over when our journey will start and rarely do we control when it will end. All we are left, then, is to make the most of the time we spend traveling. I feel satisfied with my journey and I thank you for your part in it. Do not be sad that I have reached the end of my journey because now, I can travel along with you.
–“Don’t sorrow no don’t weep for tonight, at last, I am coming home, I am coming home.” -U2, “A Sort of Homecoming”
A celebration of life will be held later in the fall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeff’s name may be made to Public Broadcasting Service (give.pbswisconsin.org), Feeding America (feedingamerica.org) or the Joe Biden Campaign (joebiden.com).
