Jean Vera Olsen

Passed away on May 31, 2019 at Oakridge Gardens at the age of 86. Jean was born on November 1, 1932 to Edward and Vera (Hessler) Freitag of Milwaukee, WI. Jean’s mom passed away when she was three and Edward married Jeanne DuPuis, who raised Jean and her brother Clark as her own children. The family then moved to Gillett, WI where Jean graduated High School and married her high school sweetheart Eugene “Ole” Olsen July 18, 1953. Then in 1961 Jean and Ole moved the family to Appleton, WI where they raised their children, made many great friends and enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow. Jean was employed at Jacob’s Meat Market for 16 years. She loved having big family dinners and was well known for her great potato salad. Jean and Ole spent many years enjoying camping at Maple Heights Camping Grounds in Lakewood, WI. Jean also enjoyed monthly domino games with daughter Terry, sister in-law Mary and niece Joanie. Jean was an avid bowler, cribbage league player, and loved afternoon cards with the girls. Jean will miss her beloved cat Missy.

Jean is survived by her children Terry (Dave) Kuse, Ron (Michelle) Olsen, and Steve (Dawn) Olsen; grandma of Brad (Mandy) Kuse, Kristin (Tim) Robertson, Andy (Ashley) Kuse, Heather (Ken) Radomski, Ariell (MSgt David Peel), PFC Jacob Olsen, Sarah Olsen, Hannah Olsen, and Peter Olsen; great grandma of Lili, Sam, Aiden, Maggie, Ava, Rozzy, Jack, Austin, Malique, Kyana, Jadyn, Serenity, and Kenna. Sister of Deanna Smith-Freitag, Marilyn Freitag and Linda (Rich) Rademann, and many nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 45 years Eugene “Ole”, her daughter Laurie, her parents, her brother Clark, in-laws Otto and Alma Olsen, along with many family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 3009 N. Meade Street, on Friday June 7th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dee Sim officiating. Visitation at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service. Interment at Highland Memorial Park. Jean’s family would like to thank the staff at Oakridge Gardens for their compassionate care for her during her stay.
