Jean R. Otte, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna. Jean was born July 24, 1923 in Ashland, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Herbert and Rose (Breheim) Reynolds. Jean was a graduate of the Kaukauna High School, and during 1944 and 1945 served her country as a member of the United States Navy. On August 31, 1946 she married Norbert Otte at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna. For many years, Jean was employed by Roloff Manufacturing in Kaukauna. When her children were young, Jean became involved in the Girl Scouts and enjoyed several years as a volunteer leader. She was also an avid reader who passed along that love of reading to her children.
She is survived by five children: Linda Kneepkens of Oshkosh; Mary Otte of Combined Locks; Nancy (Joel) Marsh of Little Chute; George (Donna) Otte of Kaukauna; and Bob (Lynn) Otte of Kaukauna; twelve grandchildren: Andi Kneepkens, Tony Kneepkens, Bill (Lisa Schumacher) Heindel, Ellen Heindel and her special friend Brian, Rebecca (Stephen) Redmann, Jim (Katie) Marsh, Chris Otte, Jeremy Otte, Sarah Otte, Michele Otte, Miranda Otte, and Chelsea Otte; five great-grandchildren: Brittany Heindel, William Marsh, Abigail Marsh, Tara Menting, and Jennifer Menting and her special friend Steve. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law: Jerry (Lou Ann) Otte of Deming, New Mexico and Donald (Kathy) Otte of Menasha. Additional survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norbert in 1999 and his parents William and Odelia Otte, a brother Damon (Rosemary) Reynolds, a sister Vivian (Howard) Patterson, and a son-in-law Tom Kneepkens in 2005.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service; however, a graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Kaukauna is being planned for the spring.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Cherkasky, his entire staff, and the wonderful people who work in the rehabilitation center at St. Paul Elder Services.
