Jean Marie (Seubert) Schultz, age 62, died of natural causes on November 18, 2018, in Appleton, WI.
Jean is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jim Schultz; her daughter Emily Schultz; her daughter Sarah (Brian) VanCleve; her grandchildren, George and Cora VanCleve; her daughter, Rebecca (Shawn) Sommer; her sons, Timothy Schultz and Kenneth Montley; her sister, Susan (Al) Baerg; her brothers, Kenneth (Tami) and Mark; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nancy Seubert and her brother, Mike.
Jean was born on January 29, 1956 in Marshfield, WI, to parents Thomas and Nancy. She graduated from Marquette University in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. In 1989, she moved to Appleton and accepted a position as a physical therapist at Colony Oaks Care Center, where she worked for 11 years. She later transferred to ThedaCare at Home, where she worked for 14 years.
Jean was a loving wife, mother, and sister. She married Jim in 1978 and the couple had 4 children together, and later welcomed a foster son. She was known to open her home to any of her children’s friends who needed a safe place to stay.
Jean was deeply involved in her church, her children’s schools, and volunteer work for the majority of her life. She enjoyed baking Christmas cookies with her children and grandchildren, reading murder mysteries, solving puzzles, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and gardening, especially pulling weeds. Her family and friends will always remember her as a kind, courageous person.
A Visitation for Jean will take place from 5-7 PM on Friday, November 23, at Wichmann-Fargo Funeral Home, 537, N. Superior St., Appleton, WI 54911, with a Vigil Service at 6:30 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated for Jean at 11 AM on Saturday, November 24, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N McDonald St., Appleton, by Rev. Jim Lucas. Friends and family may visit from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery on Monday, November 26 at 1 PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jean’s life.
The family would like to thank ThedaCare Regional Medical Center for their care of Jean at the end of her life, and for all of the family and friends who are supporting Jean’s family at this difficult time.
