Jean D Gurnee

Jean Gurnee, age 94, passed away on February 27, 2017 in Appleton. She was born on March 14, 1922 to the late William and Estelle (Stuzman) Van Heuklon. She married the late David Gurnee and they had five children. Jean was a beautician and worked for Anchor Foods. She loved her flowers and pet birds. Her heart was open to anyone who was in need, listened and shared her wisdom.

She is survived by her children: Jean Ann Harn, David (Mary) Gurnee, Appleton, Gary (Bonnie) Gurnee, Shawano, Kitty (Curt) Logan, Florida; 13 grandchildren: Wendy (Dennis) Jagar, Florida, Laurie (Derrick) Wilz, Neenah, Martin (Kim) Harn, Merlin (Theresa) Harn, Neenah, Tammy (Dan) Bredeck, Shawano, Elizabeth (Chris) Allie, Brillion, Todd (Erika) Gurnee, Nevada, Emily Gurnee, Appleton, Jenny (Ben) Quella, Appleton, Mary (Ben) Kaufman, Appleton, Chad (Kelli) Logan, Appleton, Eric (Raechel) Logan, Appleton, Josh (Jan) Logan, Appleton. She is further survived by 26 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her beloved brother, Ray Van Heuklon; daughter, Faye Prevatt; and son-in-law, Mark Harn.

Funeral services for Jean will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. There will be a time of visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Appleton Assisted Living for all of their loving care, and The Newhouse family for being there for Jean.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Jean's honor to St. Mary Catholic Church. She had a strong faith in God and shared this with others.
