Age 58, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on Sunday, January 30, 2005. She was born in Appleton on September 24, 1946, daughter of Robert and Jane (Stein) Baumann. On October 7, 1967, she married William Aykens at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Appleton. Jean enjoyed her work and many friends at Miron Construction, and was also a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha, where she volunteered her time and enjoyed the companionship of her Bible study group. She was very dedicated to the most important thing in her life, her family.
Jean is survived by her husband, Bill; mother, Jane; children: Deanna and Jerry Manderfield, Greg and Jill Aykens, and Steve Aykens and Lindsay Dombeck; grandchildren: Allyssa, Megan, Kate and Molly; siblings: Beckie and Dick Hawker, Ann and Ben Kolasinski, Barb and Steve Driessen, Pat and Bill Wildenberg, Bob Baumann, and Dan and Heidi Baumann; and in-laws: Tom and Nancy Aykens, and Betty and Ted Wenning. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Jean was preceded in death by her son, David; father, Robert; and a nephew, Mark Kolasinski.
The funeral liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2005, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 212 Appleton Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Radetski officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.
The family extends a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for their kindness and special care. A special thank you is also extended to a good family friend, Dr. Brian Schreiber, for his guidance and support, and to all family and friends who have extended their prayers and support.
